If you brought the Von Trapp family from the Sound of Music to America and taught them to play the fiddle and the banjo, you would end up with the King Family Band. Featuring Tim and Kim King and their seven children, this band band puts on a high energy Branson-style show that everyone is sure to enjoy. They excite audiences with banjo and fiddle favorites such as the Orange Blossom Special, Dueling Banjos, and Rocky Top, as well as standard Bluegrass and gospel songs and some original music.

The King family first garnered recognition when they won the open stage competition at the Springfield, IL Bluegrass Festival, and were invited to Silver Dollar City’s Youth in Bluegrass Festival. Recently they participated in the International Bluegrass Competition in Nashville, TN. In 2009 they showed their instrumental prowess at the Illinois State Fair with Carson winning the banjo competition, Rachel getting second in the fiddle competition, and Rebecca placing second in the 16 and under fiddle competition. Last year Caleb won the Illinois State banjo contest, so this band now features two of the best banjo players in Illinois.

In August 2010 the King Family Band released their third CD which has taken the band to a whole new level. This CD is composed of original music written by Caleb King and has received considerable airplay on bluegrass radio stations. The King Family keeps a busy tour schedule playing at fairs, churches, weddings, and bluegrass festivals throughout the country.
